Wildlife photography workshops
A great wildlife photograph starts long before the shutter is pressed: knowing where the animal will be, why they have chosen that place, and what they’re likely to do next. That’s fieldcraft, and every one of our small-group workshops is built around it.
Where we work
From the Yellowstone winter to the puffin cliffs of Newfoundland, with prairie wetlands and the Alaskan tundra in between.
Pumas on the Patagonian steppe, jaguars on the rivers of the Pantanal, and hummingbirds in the high Andes.
Elephants beneath Kilimanjaro, leopards in the Okavango Delta, and the black-maned lions of the Kalahari.

Why Field & Frame
The best images are made with an understanding of ethology, biology, and ecology in mind. You'll learn to read your subject, anticipate their moves, and make the next photograph with intention.
Six photographers, not sixteen. Kept intentionally small, fewer people in the field means quieter approaches, no jockeying for position, and more personal attention as we work each opportunity. Single-occupancy lodging is built into the price.
Long-standing relationships with local guides, landowners, and conservancies open doors that stay closed to most groups: private land where we track on foot, photography hides reserved for our group alone, and properties that aren't open to the public. Less competition at every sighting, and more time to work it.
Whether you're a year into the craft or thirty, instruction meets you where you are. Real feedback in the field, no gatekeeping, and every question welcome.

Your guide
Annalise Kaylor grew up an unapologetically curious and semi-feral kid in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Her photography and visual storytelling have appeared in Audubon Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, BBC's Discover Wildlife, and the Associated Press, and her work has helped further the causes of The Nature Conservancy, charity: water, and Ducks Unlimited.
Her workshops are built for photographers who want more than a checklist image, and who want to understand the landscape that produces the animal in front of them.
More about AnnaliseIn their words
“The only downside to doing a workshop with Annalise is that the bar she sets is high and other tour leaders won’t measure up. And I like that she doesn’t start doing her own photography until everyone in the group is getting the photos first.”
Eric L.
“I’ve been a photographer for almost 30 years and came away with some of my best photographs of my career on this trip. Thanks for teaching an old dog all the new tricks. I can’t believe how many ‘keepers’ I have from your workshop.”
David C.
“Annalise is extremely well organized and well connected to local hosts and guides. This made for an anxiety-free trip with all accommodations and wildlife sessions exceeding expectations.”
Audrey B.
“I was very nervous that I could be so far behind everyone else in skill and knowledge and even as a beginner you gave me the confidence to learn and enjoy this trip. Your knowledge on so many levels is amazing!”
Lynne S.
“Thank you so much for this trip! I’ve hung onto every word you said and learned more from you than I ever expected to. This has honestly been one of the best trips of my life!”
Lori W.
“I’ve been on so many workshops, but it wasn’t until our trip with you that we learned the value of working with a career professional. We learned so much and you’re so good at explaining things in a way that’s not dumbed down or all jargon. Even our friends saw the difference in our photos.”
Kimberly J.
“It was so refreshing to have a workshop leader care more about our photos than their own photography. I learned more on one trip with Annalise than I did on my last three trips combined.”
